1. Agreement to These Terms

These terms of service ("Terms") govern your use of hiddening.com (the "Site") and the purchase and use of self-guided scavenger hunts ("Hunts") provided by Hiddening ("we", "us", "our").

By accessing the Site, purchasing a Hunt, or taking part in a Hunt, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site or purchase a Hunt.

These Terms should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

3. Buying a Hunt

3.1 Placing an order

All purchases are made through our Site and processed by Stripe, our payment provider. Your contract of sale is formed when Stripe confirms your payment and we send you your download link.

3.2 Prices

Prices are shown on the Site in pounds sterling (GBP) and include any applicable VAT. We reserve the right to change prices at any time, but the price you pay is the price shown at the time of your order.

3.3 Digital delivery

Our Hunts are digital products. After payment, you will receive a download link for a PDF containing your Hunt instructions. Your download link is valid for 48 hours — once downloaded, the PDF is yours to keep. If your link expires, email hello@hiddening.com and we will resend it.

4. Cancellations and Refunds

4.1 Your 14-day right to cancel

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you have the right to cancel a digital order within 14 days of purchase.

However, because our Hunts are digital content supplied immediately on purchase, this right lapses if you download the PDF and we have asked for and received your express consent to immediate download at the point of sale. If you have not yet downloaded the PDF, you may cancel within 14 days for a full refund by emailing hello@hiddening.com.

4.2 Goodwill refunds

If you have downloaded your Hunt but something is genuinely wrong with it (for example, a broken clue or an inaccessible location), contact us within 30 days of purchase and we will do our best to fix the issue or issue a goodwill refund.

4.3 How refunds are paid

Approved refunds are returned via Stripe to your original payment method, usually within 5–10 working days.

5. Using Your Hunt

5.1 Licence

When you buy a Hunt, you receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to download and use the PDF for personal, non-commercial use. You may:

Play the Hunt yourself, as many times as you like
Share the PDF with your immediate group or party taking part in the Hunt with you
Print a reasonable number of copies for your own use

You may not:

Resell, sublicense or commercially exploit the Hunt or any part of it
Redistribute or publish the PDF (or its clues) beyond your own playing group
Remove or obscure any copyright or attribution notices
Use the Hunt as part of a paid event, tour or activity without our prior written permission

5.2 Commercial use

If you are a business, tour operator or event organiser interested in running our Hunts commercially, contact us at hello@hiddening.com — we offer licensing arrangements.

6. Playing Safely and Lawfully

Our Hunts take place in public streets and spaces. You are responsible for your own safety and conduct while playing. By taking part you agree to:

Obey all laws, local bylaws and site-specific rules
Respect private property — our Hunts never require you to enter private land without permission
Take reasonable care around traffic, water, uneven ground and other ordinary hazards of public spaces
Not trespass, damage property or disturb the public
Supervise children appropriately — Hunts are designed for adults and families playing together

We plan our routes to use safe, public, well-frequented areas, but we do not control public spaces and cannot guarantee conditions on the day. You take part at your own risk. Do not play in severe weather, after dark in unlit areas, or anywhere you feel unsafe.

7. Intellectual Property

All content on the Site and within our Hunts — including text, clues, puzzles, route design, images, branding and the Hiddening name — is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of any intellectual property to you.

"Hiddening" and associated marks are our trade marks. You may not use them without prior written permission, except to refer factually to our product.

8. WhatsApp Delivery

Hunt instructions may direct you to contact an operator via WhatsApp. This is part of the game experience. Message responses are provided during reasonable hours and are not a live emergency service. If you experience an emergency, contact the relevant emergency services, not the operator.

9. Availability and Changes

We work hard to keep the Site and Hunts accurate and available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may update, correct or retire Hunts over time (for example, if a landmark closes). If a material change affects a Hunt you have purchased, we will offer a fix or a refund where reasonable.

We may also update these Terms from time to time. The current version is always on this page with its "last updated" date. Material changes will be flagged on the Site.

10. Third-Party Services

The Site and Hunts rely on third parties, including Stripe (payments), Beehiiv (newsletter), GoAffPro (affiliate programme), Cloudflare (hosting) and WhatsApp (messaging). Their services are governed by their own terms, and we are not responsible for their availability or behaviour.

11. Affiliate Programme

Participation in our affiliate programme (run via GoAffPro) is governed by the programme terms published on our Affiliates page, which form part of these Terms. We may withhold commissions obtained through misleading promotion, trademark bidding or self-referrals.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law:

We provide the Site and Hunts "as is" and do not warrant that they will be error-free, uninterrupted or fit for any particular purpose beyond their obvious function as scavenger hunt games
We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of enjoyment, travel costs, or disappointment arising from route conditions or puzzle difficulty
Our total liability arising out of or in connection with a purchase is limited to the amount you paid for that Hunt

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under the laws of England and Wales.

13. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except that consumers retain the right to bring claims in their local courts where that right cannot lawfully be restricted, and may also use the EU/UK Online Dispute Resolution platform where applicable.
